Given the current Covid-19 situation, kayaking with Kaskazi Kayaks And Adventures is an ideal way to get out in the open air while easily maintaining social distancing. Our groups are limited to 12 guests and we meet on the beach at Three Anchor Bay for the safety briefing and launch so everything is in open air and it is easy maintain social distancing The small group provides a more intimate experience with a dedicated fleet of pirate themed kayaks.

We have the ideal location to launch and explore the Table Bay coastline from the sea providing unique and spectacular photo opportunities. We operate from the beach at Three Anchor Bay where all our kayaks are stored. From Three Anchor Bay we embark on a 3 – 5 km journey either towards Granger Bay or Bantry Bay.

The view of Signal Hill, Lion’s Head, Table Mountain and the 12 Apostles is unforgettable. Uninterrupted views of our spectacular mountain range and the sea breeze will leave you feeling rejuvenated and hungry to taste more of what the Mother City has to offer.

The trip to Granger Bay takes us past the Green Point Lighthouse, the wrecks of the Seafarer and RMS Athens and to one of the favourite hangouts for our endemic Heaviside’s dolphins. They are common companions to our trips – particularly on summer mornings.

Booking is essential and all trips are weather dependent. Make sure you are contactable on the mobile number you supplied when booking. If we have to cancel, we will notify you by text message an hour before start time.

Please note our cancellation policy states 24 hours notice. If a “no show” occurs, a 100% forfeit

Please be at the beach 15 minutes before the activity starts

Q What should we wear?

Ideally beach wear like a rash vest and board shorts. If you are sensitive to the cold a windbreaker. Anything that does not hold water is fine, cotton is not ideal but fleece is fine. You get a bit splashed with water from your paddle so you do get a bit wet. A broad brimmed hat and sunglasses (with a tether) are a good idea.

Q What should we take along?

If you have a Go Pro, waterproof camera or waterproof cell phone you can take them along, but don't miss out on the experience by focusing on photos. The trip leader will take photos and post them in a facebook album. Don't take anything (like remote controls) that should not get wet! If you. need to take medication along like an asthma pump let the trip leader know. You may wish to take water or some other soft drink. but it's not essential.

Q Will I be able to keep up with the group?

The objective of the trip is to enjoy the experience. The trip leader will keep the group together (with your cooperation), those who want a work out can paddle ahead a bit and circle around to the back of the group.

Q Do I need to be able to swim?

No, you will be wearing a buoyancy aid so as long as you just relax in the unlikely event of ending up in the water you will comfortably float with your head above water. Alert the trip leader and follow his instructions.

Q Do people ever capsize?

The kayaks are very stable so it is very unlikely but occasionally people make a special effort and do capsize! It's not a big deal so if it does happen to you, relax, have a laugh and alert the trip leader and wait for instructions. Leave the kayak upside down - don't try to get back in on your own.

Q Do people ever get sea sick?

Yes, some people do get sea sick but it is less likely than when you are on a boat. It's very important to look up, don't look at your kayak or paddle. It's also best to keep moving, not just bob around. If you are susceptible to motion sickness, consider a preventative before the trip. As soon as you feel symptoms, alert the trip leader.

Q What about sharks?

Sadly we have never seen one on a trip. It would be a one in a million experience. If you sea a fin sticking out of the water it is likely a sunfish - docile and impressive creatures.
